Big Hits Of Mid America Volume Three
The first two Big Hits compilations, released on the Soma label in the mid-1960s, contained real, honest-to-goodness hits by The Gestures, The Underbeats, and The Castaways.
In 1979, Twin/Tone reactivated the series when a third volume documented Minneapolis’ underground music scene of the late 1970s. None were hits. Still, a number of the acts on Volume Three went on to record their own albums, something few of their ’60s Big Hits counterparts managed. Some are still active, recording, producing and engineering new music.
The Twin Cities record label, BackGroove Records, is now reissuing this classic album as remastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering, Milwaukee, WI with vinyl mastering by Jeff Powell at Take Out Vinyl, Memphis, TN.
